A MESSAGE FROM

DEBORAH STEVENS

OWNER OF HONEYCOMB FESTIVAL

Honeycomb started life as a community dance platform run by the district council at the Aylesbury Civic Centre. Judy Munday has been involved for nearly 20 years and I joined her running the event as part of my job in 2010. (I actually performed at the festival several times as part of my school dance club many years before - not that Judy remembered me!) In 2011 the festival moved from the Civic centre to the brand new Waterside Theatre and expanded to two days of dance several years later. In late 2016, I took the plunge and took on Honeycomb as my own business when the opportunity arose, ensuring that Judy was still by my side.

Although the event has grown, our ethos has always remained the same; to provide talented young people from the local area with a non-competitive performance platform.

Honeycomb now draws in performers from across Buckinghamshire and surrounding counties. We even have regular visits from a group based down in Eastleigh. Although Judy and I have been working on the festival together for over twelve years, we still get excited to see what our well-known groups bring as well as welcoming new groups to the performance roster. We were so excited to introduce a new third day in 2018 showcasing Musical Theatre and Drama, and after a two year break due to Covid, we were back with a bang in 2022. We also welcomed another Honeycomb regular, Laura, who has chaperoned for a number of our groups over the years, into our central team.

We hope you love Honeycomb Festival as much as we do, we are continually astounded by the talent of the young people based around the area and look forward to welcoming you to the festival soon.
